After many years of careful planning, Aviara was created when Poinsettia Lane was extended east to El Camino Real and renamed Aviara Parkway. The first residential neighborhood, Pavona, opened in 1989. The world renowned Aviara Golf Course opened in 1991 but the concrete foundation of the future Four Seasons Aviara Resort sat unfinished during the real estate slow-down of the early 1990's.
The hotel finally opened in 1997, bringing new casual elegance to San Diego. The final residential community, Tesoro de Aviara, was completed in 2004 bringing the number of Aviara homes to 2,050. The 14-acre City of Carlsbad Aviara Community Park rounded out the area when it was finished in late 2005. In 2010, management of the hotel was transferred from Four Seasons to the Hyatt Corporation and it now operates as the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort.
All age groups call Aviara home, including singles, young families, professionals, empty nesters and many retired people. It's a move-up community for residents from all over San Diego County. People from Los Angeles and Orange County escape the congestion and Midwesterners leave the cold weather behind to relax in their Aviara second homes.
Miles and miles of sidewalks make this the perfect place for serious walkers and casual strolling. Hikers, runners and bicyclists take to the scenic Batiquitos Nature Trail - a picturesque getaway overlooking the Batiquitos Lagoon and the Aviara Golf Course.
The upper Eucalyptus and Sage trails are more secluded and offer a peaceful walk or run. With the beautifully designed, world-class neighborhoods and sweeping golf course, lagoon and ocean views, there are few places as desirable to live as Aviara.
Fortunate Aviara residents enjoy fine neighborhoods with well-maintained homes of many different architectural styles. They experience a variety of residential options in 21 distinctive neighborhoods that include luxury executive homes, gated condominiums, exclusive apartments and lavish custom homes. Just a few vacant lots remain in the gated custom home neighborhood of Aviara Point. Search San Diego MLS data for Aviara real estate & Aviara homes for sale.
