This highly respected index measures and reflects the direction of the San Diego economy. It's released every month by the Burnham-Moores Center For Real Estate at USD.
The best way to track the San Diego economy
The USD Index of Leading Economic Indicators for San Diego County measures key components of the San Diego economy including building permits, unemployment insurance, local stock prices, consumer confidence, help wanted advertising and the national economy.
Included in this informative report, is Alan Gin's analysis of the data and his monthly comments on the San Diego economy. Historical data is also presented in a line graph that makes it easy to interpret and predict the economic trends.
#4 - North San Diego County Housing Affordability Index
The North San Diego County Association of Realtors® and Dr. Robert Brown of California State University San Marcos, publish the North San Diego County Housing Affordability Index.
Known as HomeDex, this monthly index measures the extent to which North San Diego County residents can afford to purchase homes in the 32 Zip Codes that make up North San Diego County. HomeDex also presents median real estate price trends and statistics for both attached and detached single-family homes.
Housing affordability is important
To create a consistent definition of "affordability," the North San Diego County Housing Affordability Index uses a conventional 20 percent down payment and not more than one third of a household's income dedicated to a monthly mortgage payment.
